Make corn grits using 1 cup grits to 5 cups of water. Season with a table spoon of salt and place the grits in a sauce pan on medium heat. When the grits begin to simmer then turn the heat down and allow them to cook. Stir occasionally. When the water has mostly absorbed into the grits and they have reached a creamy consistency add a good amount of butter. Stir the butter in and allow the grits to absorb the butter. Taste the grits and add more seasoning if necessary. Grits can be maintained on low heat with the occasional addition of water through out the day.

  • 1 cup grits for 4 portions
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup butter
